Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes are two different breeds. They can be many different sizes depending on the mushers' breeding (assuming they're working dogs). Siberian males are usually between 45-60 and females between 35-50 pounds. Malamute males are usually between 75-90 pounds and the females between 65-80 pounds. Many of these dogs can get even bigger depending on what cargo they are hauling or smaller if they are racing, though, typically, you wouldn't race a Siberian or malamute anymore. Mostly just mixes now.

What is the Siberian Malamute's height and weight?

The ''Siberian Malamute'' is not a breed, you could be thinking of either Siberian Huskies or Alaskan Malamutes (which are two separate breeds). The official Alaskan Malamute breed standard stipulates that it should grow between 23 and 28 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 85lbs and 125lbs. The official Siberian Husky breed standard says that it should grow between 20 and 23.5 inches at the shoulder and weigh between 35lbs and 60lbs.

What is a duty of the Alaskan malamute?

Alaskan malamutes were originally bred for heavy duty work..such as pulling large sleds. They are like the Siberian husky, and Samoyed which were all bred for similar work..Though they go slower than Siberian huskies and other sled dogs, they have a bigger build, weigh more, and were built bigger for pulling more weight. They are not normally used in races as much as huskies.

What Different kinds of huskies?

there are two main types of huskies, the Malamute (pronounced mal-a-moo) and the Siberian husky. The Malamute is much larger, males can weigh anywhere from 50- 100 kgs. Siberians are much smaller, still tall but weigh far less, a male can weigh about 25kgs. Siberians were bred by using malamutes and wolves (I believe). They were bred because they are faster and lighter then Malamutes and need less food, so for pulling sleds they are better, they still have huge amounts of endurance, but not quite as much a malamute. Often for pulling sleds Malamutes will be used near the back, right in front of the sled driver, as they can handle the weight better, and the Siberians will form the rest of the pack. There are also two other kinds of huskies. The Alaskan Husky, as well as the Mackenzie River Husky.
