85 lbs. ? <- previous answer. Lets see now....
This question has bugged me for a while - so I decided to find out for myself. First I grabbed my wifes digital scale then went to the garage and heres how it went. I started by weighing myself while holding a head and then by myself without the head and did the math. A bare cast iron 781 casting - no valves, springs, retainers, pushrod guideplates etc.. came in at 68.5 Lbs. So I'd agree that 85Lbs. complete sounds like it could be kinda close maybe just a little heavy because 16.5Lbs. for the balance of the valvetrain seems a bit high. Now I did the same weigh in procedure again with and without a head. This time with one of my new Brodix Race Rite Oval Port aluminum heads COMPLETE with valves, springs, retainers, pushrod guide plates etc.. - in the heavy cardboard shipping box and it came in at 46Lbs. I hope this helps someone else that's just as curious as myself.

could be a bad head gasket or cracked head.
The weight of a small block Chevrolet cylinder head is 65 ft-lbs. Refer to your owner's manual or seek the help of a car expert if necessary. Obviously the above person didn't understand the question. A cast iron cylinder head, fully assembled, for a small block Chevy weighs 49 pounds. A cast aluminum head weighs 25 pounds.
