Carcharodon megalodon was a huge species of shark closely related to the great white shark. Because they are only known from their teeth and a few vertebrae, it is hard to estimate its length, let alone weight, so its weight remains unknown. However, if C. megalodon was 52 feet long (a common length estimate), it probably had a mass of about 53 tons.
