The 1991 Honda Prelude has an interference engine. If the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. Replace the belt at 90,000 miles. As the water pump is driven by the same belt, also replace the pump at the same time to avoid future labor costs.
On the driver's side of the engine under the timing belt cover. It is driven by the the timing belt. If you do change it you should always replace your timing belt and water pump while you are in there. You will save yourself time and money in the long run.
The water pump is located in the timing set up behind the timing cover its a good idea to replace the timing belt when u replace the water pump
the water pump is located underneath the timing belt cover and requires that the timing belt be removed in order to replace it as it is driven by the timing belt.
Go to your favorite parts store and buy a new one and remove timing cover and belt, while your at the parts store go ahead and buy a new timing belt while your in there, save headache down the road.

You do not have to change the timing belt to replace the water pump. You do have to remove the timing belt cover to be able to access the bolts that hold the water pump on.
For my 2001 Honda Passport, I paid $420 to have the water pump and timing belt replaced in October 2008.

the water pump is under the timing cover, if you replace the water pump, it is also a good time to change out the timing belt... Honda recomends changing water pumps when you change the timing belt...
