What is the difference between an associates in applied science in medical assisting and associates in nursing?
I would love to know this answer. Which someone would respond An associates degree refers to a completed course of study that is is less than the requirements for a baccalaureate degree (4 years of university study). Nursing is quite different from medical assisting. Nursing is a regulated profession that requires specific educational components and a licensing exam for entry to practice. Nurses work with clients of all ages and with a variety of conditions and in a variety of setting. Nursing is an autonomous profession. The nursing profession is highly relational with emphasis on the nurse client relationship. Advanced communication skills are needed. Medical assisting would be more technical and less relational. Any job that is "assisting" is not autonomous as you are taking direction from someone else.

Yes if you go to an acredited nursing school...I know someone who is working at a cancer center where my Father was getting Chemo. And The nurse attending him was an Rn with an Associates. So Yes it can be done..She told me she took a medical assisting course and was able to take the NCLEX exam.

Many workplaces are required to have someone who knows first aid. Besides that, having someone who does is good for covering the employer in case something happens and there is no first aid available.

WHERE is medical assisting going or what is medical assisting, what I know is that it's not a course for someone who plans to make money. it has a very low hourly wage ( around $11.00). not even a single person with no kids can live on that income. look for something else. if your interested in the medical field, I am currently taking a dialysis technician course. it runs from Sept thru June and at the end you are licensed. the starting rate is around $15.50 and there's plenty of room for advancement and sometimes the hosp or clinic you work in my pay for additional schooling.
