What is the belt diagram for a 1985 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight?

answer to Olds belt diagramits hard to put a diagram into words..my husband has a diagram for a 1985 Oldsmobile Royale Delta 88..here it is...hope it helps and good luck belt # 15436 which is a small belt goes to the alternator & fan pulley ,belt # 15445 which is a small belt also goes to the center pulley behind the fan pulley then the power steering pump and on the bottom outside crank pulley below the fan-water pump pulley.the final belt # 15585 which is a larger belt goes to the air condition compressor fan pulley far inside groove t,crank pulley far inside groove toward engine block and then emission pump. I bought one belt @ AutoZone and the 2 small ones were made by Goodyear,But as long as the numbers & belt size match you should be able to get them anywhere. I hope this helps as I had to track down another Delta 88 Royale as none of the parts stores were of much help either.

How do you adjust serpentine belt dodge Dakota 2002?

You don't. If it has stretched too much for the tensioner pulley to handle, you need a new belt. Or, if the tensioner pulley is not applying correct tension, the tensioner pulley must be replaced.

Why reciprocating air compressors need a belt drive?

They do not but the belt pulley system offers much in the way of mechanical advantage pump pulley often much smaller than motor or engine pulley means for every 1 rotation of motor 2 rotations of pump

How do you change the main drive belt on a 1997 Dodge Stratus 2.0L?

2.0L SOHC Engine: Disconnect the negative battery cable. Loosen the idle pulley's screw (it should be underneath the alternator on the same belt) just enough to remove the belt but not too much that the pulley falls. Put new belt, screw back the pulley, make sure tension is wright (with tension meter if you got one). If you don't have a tension meter then try to turn a pulley and see if the belt slips on it. If it does slip, then you'll have to screw the tension screw with a small 10 mm (I think) wrench. Plug back the negative cable. Run the car and listen to it. if it makes a squeaky sound, either the idle pulley is loose or the belt need an adjustment. Cheers

How do you loosen the belt to install a new alternator on a 1996 Chevy Cavalier?

On my 97 Cavalier I can use a 15mm box end wrench on the spring tension idler pulley. The idler pulley is in the middle of all the pulleys on the belt. It is right under the engine mount and above the crankshaft pulley. It is difficult to get to, but I can put the wrench on the bolt in the center of the pulley and apply clockwise force (looking at the engine from the passenger side fender) to rotate the idler down. This will loosen the belt. You will need to do the same to re-install the belt. Be careful, the pulley will try to spring up when you remove the belt. Make sure you memorize or draw the belt path before you remove it. If you forget, Advance Auto Parts can print a diagram. It was the same for our 2004 Cavalier. I took the right wheel off and lining behind it.... much much easier! (pulley and belt right there)

How do you tighted the serpentine belt on a 1995 Corolla?

Chances are if the belt is routed around the pulleys correctly and there is still too much play, then you will need to replace the idler pulley aka tensioner pulley. First I would try replacing the belt to rule out that the slack is due to a stretching, but chances are if the idler pulley is proper it should still take the slack out.

Can an idler pulley cause a car to stall out at a stop?

Probably not usually. For an idler pulley to put so much drag on the belt system that it stalls the engine, it would break or throw the belt altogether before the engine could actually stall.

If you get a smaller pulley will you need a smaller belt?

The Quick Answer: yes you will need a shorter belt The Truth: It depends on how MUCH smaller the new pulley is.... assuming it is a serpentine-style belt (aka unibelt), there will be a spring loaded tentioner, which will take up a certain amount of slack, but not more than a few cm...

Is it too much when you wear a scarf and a belt?

yea sorta.unless if the belt is like small.

Will a pulley hold a human?

Depends entirely upon the size of the pulley. There are many that will and many that are much too small to safely hold a human.

Is there anyway to bypass the AC Compressor with a serpentine Belt without using a Pulley bolted to the engine?

if you can reroute the belt to bypass the ac compressor all you need to work out is how much shorter the belt is that you would require

Why is the 91 Eagle Talon timing belt loose has new tensioner but it has been taken on and off engine 4 times due to other problems?

belt is stretched dose not take much to stretch only rubber and metal also remember the pulley that takes up the tension is not on center the hole thats in the pulley is eccentric -off center ..you must set it so its up the pulley so it holds the belt tighter hope you understand i took my belt off 6 times all ok remember the tension pulley is eccentric not on center............
