"Dieting" is not effective because you almost always gain all the weight back after you go "off your diet" ... make a lifestyle change in your eating habits. I recomment Tom Venuto's book "Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle" - it will tell you everything you need to know.

800 calories and below will slow down your metabolism making you gain weight in the end... around 1500 calories is the ideal amount to lose weight the quickest
