Feeding a dog, any dog; depends on the active level of the dog. The food you decide to use and the way you want to feed the dog. The best way I have found to see what each dog needs is: I keep dry dog food (a good food) in the bowl all the time (free feeding). I watch to see how much the dog eats at a setting then how often it comes to eat. Now I know the amount it is eating after a few days. I can either divide that into TWO meals a day or keep free feeding. If you can see the ribs on the dog at all, it is not eating enough or a good food. If you can not feel the ribs, the dog is too heavy and needs the food changed. OR, you could be giving too many dog biscuits and treats. The biscuits are high in calories.
Check on the back of the dog food bag,it will give you an idea of how much to start with.
a fifty pound dog would need three cups + a half cup or 3 1/2 cups of food per day
the recommended serving size for a five pound dog every day should be anywhere from 3/4 of a cup to 1 1/2 cups. sometimes the dog may want a little more than usual and that's fine...
they should eat how much they eat in a 30 min. time period
2 cups in the morning and 2 cups late afternoon or early evening.Check on the back of the bag and should tell you if he/she needs more.
you should always feed your dog 3 times a day no mater if it is 75 pounds or not.
you probably shouldn't feed him that much
