Guinea pigs should always have hay in their cage. Feed them as much as they want. If you want to spice up their forage diet a bit, getting grass from outside (not near a roadway, sprayed with pesticides, or a dog's "bathroom" :). If your guinea pig is getting fat, I don't think it is because of the hay. Read up on what to do then, and if you want a second opinion ask your vet.
It really all depends on the guinea pig's size; If the guinea pig is large about a adult size handful, if the guinea pig is mediu m about a teenager sized handful, and if it a small guinea pig a child's size handful. Make sure you give the alfalfa hay once a day. It is apart of their diet.
You should NOT give alfalfa to your guinea pig if the guinea pig is a male. ONLY give alfalfa to (1)nursing or pregnant female guineas or (2) babies. Give your guinea pig timothy hay once it is around 4-5+ months old
i dont really know do you know if you the awnser if yes press awnser
guinea pigs need a cage, food ( i recommend oxbow cavy cuisine), and timothy hay, and a water bottle. the cgae will need bedding ( recommend carefresh ultra (the white kind))
I would say greens like timothy hay. Vitamin C is important too Hay should be the bulk of their diet with a good quality Guineapig mix and regular fresh vegetables.
You should keep their cage with timothy hay and veggies all day they will eat when they want too.
an unlimited supply of hay is fine they wont over eat on it they will just eat it as they want it! they will probably steal lots for there bedding mine do just replace any un-eaten hay when you clean the cage out!
A guinea pig will explore his cage, run around, eat hay and other foods, and if he gets scared, he will run undercover (either under a second floor or in a little hut built for them. They also need to get their exercise, which usually means you have to take him out of his cage and let him run in a bigger area for around two hours per day.
If its hay, it will run abuot 30 dollars because I have horses and rabbits.
It should be matted down with hay from the pet store then you should put food in the food bowl and put that in the corner of the cage then you should have a wheel and some toys then you are allll set. Trust me I've had hamesters for 3 years now.
The same thing used to happen to me. You could be alergic to the guineapig, the food, the bedding, the hay, or something else. I would ask a doctor.
Timothy hay is for small animals to eat. Bedding goes in the bottom of the cage for them to live on and be comfortable. Much more comfortable than newspaper.
get a diffenrant cage the rabbit will be un comfertable imagion if you were walking on cold wire all day get on ewith a wood bottom orput some grass/hay on the floor
Yes, but there are some better bedding for them though
it's easier to just feed them their timothy hay. if you give them 2 hand fulls a day than that will grind there teeth enough. chewing blocs are also good for this! other than that putting the nail clipper in their mouth might be difficult and you should not do that unless you absolutely know how to do it with out messing their teeth up. their hay will do, and they will live a happy life!
