Several engines were available in 1970.
Factory specs were:
Standard 400 350HP@5000RPM
Ram Air III 400 366HP@5100RPM
Ram Air IV 400 370HP@5500RPM
455 360HP@4600RPM
The Ram Air IV motors were way underrated to meet GM's "10lbs per HP" rule. Pontiac did miss a great opportunity by not having a high performance round port engine ready for the 1970 models. The 455HO that was released in 1971 (or better yet the 1973 SD455) would have been an even stronger performer with 10.5:1 compression and the Ram Air IV cam.
From the factory it was rated at 400 horsepower.
400 horsepower at the crank at 5200 rpm
The 2006 Pontiac GTO has 400 horsepower available. You can increase this by doing modifications to the vehicle to make it even faster and more powerful.
15 to 20 horse.
There are plenty of different ideas on how much on should expect to pay for a 1970 Pontiac GTO in good condition. However, it is around 50,000 dollars at the average.
400 horsepower and 400 lb/ft of torque.
5 or 10 horse.
There were 2,170 convertible GTOs in 1970.
1964 Standard 389 4bbl had 325 horsepower. Optional 389 Tri-power had 348 Horsepower
Assuming you are inquiring about a 2004 + GTO ... you can add between 120 and 400+ horse power. It really just depends on you needs (and wants!) and how much you are willing to spend.
There are many places one can go to to purchase a Pontiac 1970 GTO. The best place would be your local Pontiac dealership to help locate you one. You can also try AutoTrader.
