Looked online and found 1 website, for USC in Houston Tx. Their website posts a price of just over $2,000. From what I've found researching other coins is that they are never worth much more than a few pennies due to handling, holes, wear and tear. Good luck! You can contact them @ email@example.com

That's off by about 65 years. Mercury dimes were minted from 1916 to 1945. A dime from 1853 would be called a Liberty dime or Liberty Seated dime.
It isn't a liberty dime, it is a Roosevelt dime, it isn't silver and only worth 10 cents.

1857 is not a rare date for Seated Liberty Dimes. In circulated condition, as long as it has complete rims on both sides, will be worth $10 to $15
In average condition ( very heavy wear) $12.00-$20.00 beyond that, a grade is needed for a accurate value.
1837 is the last year for the Capped Bust dime and the first year for Liberty Seated dimes plus there are 2 varieties of the 1837 Liberty Seated dime. So 3 different dimes are possible for this date. Please post new question with a description of the coin.
The least minted business strike Seated Liberty dime is the 1867 of which 6,625 were struck in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The least minted proof strikes was in 1863 when only 460 dimes were struck, also in Philadelphia.

Check that coin again. The Barber dime was introduced in 1892. In 1881, the design in use was the Seated Liberty.
The Liberty Seated Dime was minted from 1837 to 1891 by the US Mint. There may be two very small holes in the coin that may effect the value of it.
