You should never take more than 32mg a day. But in reality you can get by just fine with 8-16mg. You do not need more than that, because that is all it take to completely saturate your opiate receptors! So anymore after that is just a waste of money.
Edit:
Yes, after 1 to 2 -8mg pills the effects do not increase, in my experience.
I would NEVER take more than 16 mg in one day... that's asking for side effects like aggravation, irritation, and loss of sex drive.
However, my friend took 13 -8mg pills (over the course of 24 hours) before he went into jail, and he is still alive and kicking (no pun intended lol).
I personally never take over 4 mg per day, and I'm cutting back even more from here.
It all depends on the person and what it is being taken for. I know a few pain management patients who are on upwards of 200mg's a day! Then on the other hand I know a few mathadone maintenance patients who take about 50-80mg's daily. If I had to say what is a "basic" or "common" dose of methadone I would have to say anywhere from 60-80mg's for people who need to take it everyday.
Everyone is different, but the average detox in a hospital is 20 mg dosage on day 1 and 2. 15 mg dosage on day 3 and 4. 10 mg dosage on day 5. 5 mg dosage on day 6 and 7. And then you are released. Once again everyone is different, but this is protocol at my hospital. Although, the most important aspect of getting off opiates is the psychological aspect. It is critical to get therapy while getting off opiates to prevent relapse. It was not until a sought therapy that I as able to get clean and stay clean for an extended period of time (5 years as of last week ;-p)... Good Luck.
what is the highest 10 mg methadone can you take in a day
1 every 12 hours
I take what would amount to 30mg
That will depend on your physicians recommendation. They can figure out your weight, your regular usage of opiates and start a particular dose and go from there. Most start at around 80mgs and raise/lower with close monitoring from your Dr. They like to see how you do in a 24 hr period and then level out your dose.
none you shuoldnt take any opiate with methadone.
If 10mg methadone is an ok dose for you, then go for it my friend (:
impossible, the methadone should have shown up on the test.
Methadone, if taken as prescribed by your physician, should keep you well throughout the day until it is time to take it again the following day.
Both increase serotonin levels, so it would be silly to take both. Now, if you take methadone in the morning, and begin getting shaky at night and cannot sleep, it would be o.k. to take it at night for sleep only...not during the day and not together with methadone!
Get a baby medicine dropper (one the reads ml on it) For every 10mg of methadone it would be 1ml. Roughly 2tsp are about 25mgs
From experience, I was given 30 mg's when I first went to the clinic and really felt it. Most people say 20 mg's is a good starting dose. Before this, I had a 80 mg a day OxyContin habit. Be very careful when starting Methadone as it is VERY dangerous at first. If you take 20 mg and do not feel it, do not take more that day, wait until the next day before increasing your dosage, as Methadone has a very long half-life and is still in your system even if you don't feel it. Many OD's occur from this.
You could take them together but its quite a waste eventually. Methadone works as a blocker of opiates . Heroin addicts get prescribed it to take away their withdrawal but also so they cant get high from herion anymore. You would have to be on it for a little while before that starts working but it eventually does. I used to take up to 30 vicodin and or norcos a day, and when i tried to get off it i was prescribed methadone. ++Addition++ First of all, methadone DOES NOT block the effects of opiates. It does not contain any of the opiate blocking chemicals like suboxone or narcon does. However, taking ANY opiate in addition to Methadone can be very dangerous. Methadone is stronger per mg than many of the standard opiates that people take, such as Norco or Lortab. So taking one of these with Methadone can very easily send you into overdose mode. This is not to say that they cannot be taken together, but you just have to be very, very careful. My suggestion would be to ALWAYS speak with your doctor or other licensed health care professional for advice on what to take with your methadone.
Can Lexapro and Methadone be taken together on a day to day baices? No one seems to know. my dotor didnt tell me if it was safe
There is no "normal dose" for a "female on methadone for two years" It depends on the person, and the amount drugs they used prior to taking methadone. I am currently a patient at a methadone clinic, and when I first started I would ask myself "am I taking a normal amount, but my counselor told me not to worry about the # of mg's I am on, but to focus on my recovery. Only you can truly know if the dose you are on is working for you. I can tell you before I started methadone, I was taking Tramadol (which is not very common for methadone patients) sometimes I would take 20 pills a day. sometimes I would take percocet, vicodin, whatever. I've been a patient for 6 months and I am on 80 mg's of methadone per day. Good luck with your recovery!
Take the xanax away... I take it she is coming off heroin or an opiate since she is on methadone. When you take a benzo with methadone it creates a heroin like effect, and can cause black outs. I personally would not recommend methadone, Suboxone is the better option or Subutex. But be aware that Subutex and Suboxone will give you INSTANt withdraw symptoms,a hardhitting cold turkey, if your not completely out of the Methadone.
I have been an opiate addict for about 3 years. However, I started MMT (Methadone Maintence Theropy) about 6 months ago and have been off off opiates since then. Like your question, my main drug of choice was Oxycontin. I took 40-150mg of Oxycontin a day.. or morphine, vicodin, or fentanyl when I couldn't get Oxycontin. I was started on 40mg a day of methadone, then went to 65, then 85, then i was at 100, then 120, and now i am finally on 135. I take 135mg of methadone a day and it seems to help my withdrawl symptoms of oxycodone and other opiates. Just go to a methadone clinic, most clinics will take patients who have been addicts for over a year, and explain your problem to them. They will be very helpful and the doctor at the clinic will prescribe you what he feels is the appropiate dose, and if that dose starts to not be enough, meet with the doctor again and he will most likely up your dose.
