All who serve in the Mormon church do it because of their love for Christ, Seminary teachers do not receive payment for their services, though they are reembursed for any out of pocket expenses. Only those who work full time receive any wages. Most of the church leaders are quite capable of looking after themselves finacially. All Bishops and anyone holding any positon receive no pay, but have jobs to support themselves. May I also mention that all true Mormons are TITHE payers, and give a tenth of what they earn back to the Lord.
Another Answer: Actually, although this is true for our callings being a seminary teacher is not a calling in our church. When it comes to being a full time seminary teacher, it is a job. They teach a subject, religion, just as much as the English and math teachers in high school and they are paid for their job. I am friends with my old seminary teacher from high school and because he has a masters degree he is paid a normal Oregon teacher salary (45kish). My best friends husband is also a part time seminary teacher (he works for an hour in the morning for early morning seminary that starts before classes start at the high school for those students that can't take a block out of their schedule) and he makes a good salary for that as well. Hope this helps clarify! Let me know if you have any more questions!
Most seminary teachers outside of the highly Mormon populations in the west are entirely volunteer and they receive no compensation, salary, or retirement benefits. They serve as seminary teachers as a church calling, just like being a Sunday School teacher. In places with high Mormon populations (mostly Utah), seminary is a part of the school day, and being a seminary teacher is a paid full-time job. Some seminary teachers make more than others, based on their education and experience. As with most jobs, the retirement benefits vary based on how long you have been in your position.
Salaries for seminary teachers can vary widely depending on factors such as location, experience, level of education, and type of institution. On average, a seminary teacher can make anywhere from $40,000 to $80,000 per year. Some experienced and senior faculty members may earn higher salaries.
