How much of Egypt appears to have little or no population?

More than 95% of Egypt's population lives in the Nile River valley, the Mediterranean coast, and the other large cities. More than 90% of the country's million square kilometers is practically uninhabited, and a large portion is inhospitable to human habitation (dry, rocky hills and deserts).
