How much of a gallon of gas is actually used to move the car down the road?

Verually all of it!! It takes only a small amount of fuel to drive the other components such as the generator, aircon pump, water pump etc.

About 20% of fuel is used to move the car, the rest is lost to the atmosphere in wasted heat!
