We are living in a warm period during the present ice age.

The last glaciation in Britain was the Loch Lomond Stadial or Younger Dryas which started 11,000 years ago and finished 10,000 years ago but mainly affected Scotland.

The main glaciation before this was the Devensian, about 110,000 to 12,000 years ago with at least 2 warm periods during this time.

All northern Britain was covered in ice which, at its' maximum, reached into South Wales and across to the east near Cambridge. All the area south of this was arctic tundra.
