The primary oil does three things. Lube the clutch. Lube the primary chain . And cool the stator. If Harley thought Dextron would do this, they would have recommended the use of it. Keep your Harley a Harley.
The Alternator which is also called a Stator is located inside the primary case. You will have to remove the primary coverand the primary chain. The Stator is bolted to the engine at the crankshaft.

The transmission and crankcase are one piece on a Sportster.
you need to remove the left primary case and remove the gear from the end of the starter shaft. then you can remove the mounting bolts and the starter will slide out.
On a 1993 Harley Davidson Low Rider custom, the transmission drain plug is underneath the transmission. The filler plug is on the side of the transmission case.

pull the drain plug/bolt under neath the primary case. Be careful when you thread the bolt back into the primary case that you do not over tighten... you can strip the threads. Most importantly, if you need to ask this question you should by a Clymer's repair manual, it is money well spent.
