Engine oil with filter 4.5 quarts
The Oldsmobile Alero has a capacity of 9.5 quarts of transmission oil. It is important to use Dexron III oil and not Mercon.

I currently have an 2001 Alero and it has 200800 miles one it. I have not had to replace the engine or transmission. The only issue is the fuel injection. I pay that is all that goes wrong.
I have a 2003 Alero While it sits in the sun for hours it will not start up and when the sun goes down it will start what could be the problem
2.2l ecotec = 5 quarts 2.4l twin cam = 4 quarts 3.4l = 4.5 quarts 5w30
A 3.8 of the same series from any GM Division. 3.4 do not share the same bolt pattern. 3.5 Intrigue engines are only in certain Intrigues and Auroras, and do not share the bolt battern with 3.8s. But this comes from someone who has put a 455 Toro in the rear of an S10, and a W-41 in a Fiero. Anything goes in anything if you are creative. :)
Check the vacuum line to the MAP sensor. Mine was cracked and I replaced it, and it stopped this problem completely. It only cost me 52 cents, too!
Just unbolt the power steering pump (2 -13mm bolts) and its right there, 2 10mm bolts and the outlet coms out. New one goes in with gasket and silicone and your good to go...
One symptom of a 2003 5.4 liter Expedition when the DPFE sensor goes bad is the engine light stays on constantly. Another symptom is exhaust back pressure causing the vehicle to chug slower at speeds of 35 to 40 mph.

The Mass Air Senor is located on the driver's side of the engine. It is attached to the air box lid.
