It should be given as a treat if they like it. Pineapple is not a part of their natural diet and most gerbils are not really into fruit. They do like some dried fruit. So trail mix without a lot of nuts would be good. You have to watch that because gerbils love foods high in fat like nuts and sunflower seeds and if given too much it can lead to obesity. Stick with tiny bits of dried fruit.
