Need to know if your Explorer is the V6 or V8.
The owner's manual will probably specify, and if not, picking up a shop manual such as a Chilton's manual for your vehicle would help to answer these questions and more.

NO ! ( My Ford Explorer uses automatic transmission fluid as the power steering fluid )
According to the 2006 Ford Explorer Owner Guide : ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid is used as the power steering fluid )
According to my 1991 through 1995 Haynes Ford Explorer repair manual : ( type " F " automatic transmission fluid is used as the power steering fluid )
The power steering fluid of choice by Ford engineers for your vehicle year is straight mercon 5 transmission fluid.
To the power steering pump located on the driver's side of the engine.
According to the 2000 Ford Explorer Owner Guide : ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid is used as the power steering fluid )
No ( according to my Haynes Ford Explorer repair manual , 1991 to 1995 , type " F " automatic transmission fluid is used in the power steering )
No steering power or brake power ford explorer 1999?
I ASSUME that would be ( type " F " automatic transmission fluid ) like the 1992 Ford EXPLORER uses as the power steering fluid
Type F - automatic transmission fluid or Ford Premium Power Steering Fluid meeting Ford specification - ESW - M2C33 - F ( according to my Chilton repair manual )
In the reservoir at the lower left front of the engine.
My Ford Explorer takes automatic transmission fluid for the power steering fluid so I guess it would depend on what type of vehicle you have and what type of power steering fluid is supposed to be used
