The National Council of the BSA owns and rents buildings such as the headquarters in Irving, Texas, regional offices and supply distribution centers. They also own four high adventure bases:

  • Philmont Scout Ranch- 137,500 acres (556 km2)
  • Northern Tier National High Adventure Bases-three small bases with access to wilderness areas
  • Florida National High Adventure Sea Base- 100+ acres (0.40 km2)
  • The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve- 10,600 acres (43 km2)

Local councils are separate legal entities who acquire and dispose of land as needed to support the Scouting program. Scout camps range from 454 acres (1.84 km2) for Camp Shenandoah of the Stonewall Jackson Area Council to the 17,500 acres (71 km2) Blue Ridge Scout Reservation of the Blue Ridge Mountains Council.
