Hopefully, a red tailed hawk would not be kept captive. They need to be free with plenty of forest and meadows to hunt in.
An adult hawk could kill a young eagle, but an adult would be too much for the hawk to handle.
Food-red tailed hawks aren't picky about their food...so they pretty much will find food every where. Here is a list of some things that a red tailed hawk will eat: squirrels crabs mice other birds rabbits rats
humans, and that's pretty much it. other large birds of prey are known to steal kills from them.
Yes, a California condor is much larger than a Red-tailed Hawk.
The Red-Tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) can fly at up to 121 mph.
That's like pitting velociraptor against t-rex. The harpy eagle is considered one of the largest birds of prey, is much stronger and more powerful in comparison, and could easily outweigh a red-tailed hawk. No doubt about it. I think if a golden eagle is able to kill a wolf, then a harpy eagle is able to kill a hawk, no contest.
If there's a hawk in your area, you have plenty of food...which can include snakes. There is not too much that I know to deter a red tailed. They're considered a blessing, and highly adaptable as well as intelligent.
They don't need that much....... 5 feet
Bald eagles are larger than red-tailed hawks, usually weighing about 8 - 15 lbs, versus 1.5 - 3.5 lbs, so it is reasonable to presume that bald eagles are much more powerful than red-tailed hawks.
In the U.S, the average for an adult male Harris's hawk is 1.5 pounds (701 grams) and the average for an adult female is 2.26 pounds (1,029 grams).
That , again, would depend upon the tribe. Some tribes believe the Hawk is a protector. Some believed they carried messages from the Creator and/ or the spirit world, much like the eagle. Others believed that the Red Tail Hawk was simply a beautiful bird.
