how much would it cost to replace the heater coil on a 1999 buick leSabre
Probably around $400. I had a radiator replaced for that much so I think a heater core would be maybe a bit less.
About 27.00 for a 1988 towncar heater core at autozone.

Open both front doors, remove everything, replace heater core, reinstall everything. Don't laugh, that is pretty much what you have to do. If you want to tackle the job yourself I would suggest purchasing a shop manual for that vehicle to help you through step by step.
much more difficult. Ford usually install the dash as a unit and the heater core goes in from the front. If you have nerve enough, remove the glovebox and you should be able to see the bulge where the heater core is. Cover should be plastic, carefully cut the housing big enough to remove the core, remove it, reinstall. Can be done, just takes a little time and effort. Not as much as doing it the "right" way. <2008-04-18> Agreed. Would suggest Bar's Leaks or just bypassing the heater core. I live in Florida, heater core has two uses -- (1) to "warm up" the cold AC, mine is VERY cold without the heater core, to where I have to periodically cycle the compressor. (2) to heat the defroster air. Without a heater core, the cold air on defrost winds up counter productive.
Disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the cooling system.Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core inlet and outlet connections in the engine compartment.Allowing residual coolant from the heater core to drain. Cap the openings.Working inside the vehicle, remove the lower instrument panel sound insulator.Remove the heater floor outlet duct screws or clips and remove the duct.Remove the heater core cover by removing the attaching screws and clips.Remove the heater core cover.Remove the heater core retainers and remove the heater core.Where exactly is the core located? How much time to replace labor wise? Can I replace it myself?Question 1. In the center of the vehicle inside just below the dashboard....Question 2. Without a center console 3.0 hours and add 1.0 more hour with a center console.....Question 3. Yes if you have both the time and the patience..............
