From Los Angeles to Phoenix is around 6 hours normal traffic and then from Phoenix to Mexico City is about 24 hours, however that does not include various needed stops, any detainment in customs and many variables such as options of taking older highways versus newer with heavy tolls and many one lane highways, etc. I have driven from Mexico City to Kansas City and back many times and the distance is really the same, however the traveling aspects of Mexico take much longer by car through Mexico in general. Lovely trip regardless.
