We will almost certainly not convert fully to nuclear power. What we will most likely have in the future is a mix of power sources, just as we have today, but with a decreased emphasis on fossil fuel.
Every power source has its costs and its problems, in addition to its benefits. Like all the others, nuclear power has its problems, just like any other. We do not have a good way to manage the waste. And nuclear fuel will eventually run out.
The solution is not easy, from our current point of view. There is good hope that we will be able to provide for ourselves, but a schedule cannot be produced.
Nuclear power is NOT a fossil fuel.
Use of coal, a fossil fuel, would be lessened by increasing the use of nuclear power.
Nuclear energy conserves the use of fossil fuel because if there is a nuclear power station there is no need to burn fossil fuel in that region.
Fossil fuels are not used in nuclear power stations. Nuclear fuel is used (uranium)
Uranium is not a fossil fuel; uranium is used as nuclear fuel for nuclear power reactors.
Levelized cost of kwh from a nuclear power plant is cheaper than from any fossil fueled power plants.

Japan uses nuclear power for energy instead of items such as coal and fossil fuels.
We use nuclear power because it produces cheap electricity and they reduce the need to import fossil fuels.
