Making yourself throw up is EXTREMELY dangerous to your health. It can damage your esophagus, stomach, intestines, heart, lungs, teeth, gums, and on and on. It can lead to complete organ failure, which would be fatal. Please get help if you have already been doing this. See the link below for more information.

I'm sorry, but WikiAnswers is meant to be a place where questions are answered that are there to help or educate or assist a person. Suggesting a method that encourages vomiting as a method of weight loss, a sign of the Eating Disorder Bulimia (a potentially fatal and life-endangering disease) would not be helping, but would be promoting this dangerous life style.

Not a significant amount at all. If an individual purges "everything" up STRAIGHT after consuming then the maximum amount they can get rid of is 10% of what is consumed. Nutrition is absorbed instantly by the body, so even though it may seem to the individual that they are succeeding in purging all their food, they are not. And when balanced with the fact that your body becomes "puffy" as it retains water, the individuals cheeks become swollen leading to a "fat" looking face, the throught internally bleeds, organs can fail, the liver is at serious risk, the hair falls out, eyes become bloodshot, veins burst, teeth become yellow, teeth rot, the individuals potassium lowers and becomes life threatening, the individual suffers from black outs - combined with further medical complications - it is hardly worth purging at all.

You will lose some weight... but

- Your breath will smell

- The back your teeth will become thin and sensitive

- After a while the stomach acid will rot all your teeth

- You will become pale

- The skin on your face can look very greasy all the time

- You will become nutritionally deficient and develop a variety of heath problems

- You will suffer from malnutrition

- You may lose all the hair on your head

- You may develop bald patches

- You may develop serious nasty looking skin problems

- You can develop serious mental health problems

- You will become weak physically and mentally

- You may develop a serious eating disorder and eventually die

As soon as you stop throwing up, you will gain the weight back. Why do it the hard way and make yourself so ill. When all you have to do to lose weight is eat healthy and do somecardio exercise. This path is much more rewarding and effective at fat burning. Cardio exercise (including cardio walking) is second to none for fat burning! Trust me. Anyone will tell you the same.

None. Throwing up generally does not get rid of enough calories to cause weight loss. However, throwing up does greatly dehydrate you (part of the reason that repeated throwing up is so dangerous), so at first there will be some weight loss in fluid, but eventually you'll have what's called a fluid rebound where your weight will go up because your body is hanging onto fluid in an attempt to rehydrate. Over time, assuming there is no more throwing up, the fluids will even out.

That would depend on your weight, activity, what and how much you ate, and when you ate in relation to the time of vomiting and when you go to sleep (or become generally inactive).

Purposefully vomiting as a weight loss method is VERY UNHEALTY, it can lead to malnourishment, esophageal ulcers, and much worse. If you do this compulsively it may be an eating disorder called Bulimia and is often associated with chronic depression and anxiety about gaining weight. If you think you have this problem PLEASE see a doctor about it and get help, if you are afraid of doctors or won't go for some reason at least confide in a friend and talk to your family or SOMEBODY about it. It is a very unhealthy practice and even if you become malnourished you may actually gain weight as your body responds to the large consumption of food coupled with low calorie and nutrition intake by hording energy in fat. In short, it doesn't work, it is unhealthy, and you are probably a very unhappy person at the moment if you are considering this, don't be ashamed, get help.
