Yes, although there were no direct trains. The European rail network was fairly well developed and connections between various cities & towns existed. It would be possible to go from Poland, through Germany, to Switzerland. Or from Poland to Hungary to Austria to Italy to Switzerland, for example. There are at least a dozen possible routes into Switzerland from Poland. At each border crossing, there would be Passport Control & Customs inspections. Sometimes it would be necessary to change (cars or trains) at the border. Sometimes passengers did not change cars, but the train cars would be moved from one train to another, when trains routes diverged or converged. Of course passengers & cargo would be handled slightly different, depending on the situation.
