Oil change durations don't really change with different cars, what changes is what quality oil you put in it. If your putting in a good synthetic(mobile one, castrol) then you could be able to push it as much as 8 months /8000 miles. if you are putting in conventional oil you should change it every 3 months/3000 miles. Also, the quality of oil filters is almost as important as the oil. The reason Mercedes go 14months/14,000 miles is because they are using mobile one 0w-40(one of the best oils) with a special fleece filter made by mann filters. Ive seen people ruin S500s by getting 14,000 mile oil changes at jiffy lube, because jiffy lube uses bulk oil and paper filters. Purolator's pure one filters are great for the price.
Important factor not mentioned is the type of driving you do. If stop and go around town with short trips, three to four thousand is safe with good quality oil. If you are on the interstate driving at 70 mph, you can go 7500 miles without any problems. Consumer Report did a study a while back that you can look up on the internet. Something to remember, oil is fairly cheap. Engines are not.
