The Maintenance Schedule is available for download from the Motorcraft website - See "Related Links" below.
Under ideal operating conditions, the schedule indicates you can run the plugs as long as 100,000 miles.
Personally speaking, I like to do them, and the wires, closer to 80,000. Call me old-fashioned - it's a carry over from when plugs were a 20-30,000 mile change interval.

We recommend every 30,000 miles.
On a 2000 Mercury Sable : The 3.0 litre " Vulcan " V6 engine has ( 1 timing CHAIN ) The 3.0 litre " Duratec " V6 engine has ( 2 timing CHAINS , 1 CHAIN to each cylinder head )
According to the Ford Maintenance Schedule, 30,000 miles under "normal" operating conditions. The schedule can be downloaded from the same sources as the Owners Manuals. See "Related Questions" below for more about changing transmission fluid/filters and downloading the schedule/Owners Manuals.
5000
Physical damage to a cylinder is seldom repaired. More often the motor is replaced.
Every time it becomes defective.
The 1994 Mercury Topaz has a chain and not a belt.
EITHER 30MILLIMETER 32 OR 36 MILLIMETER I 'vote' for the 30mm - Ford seems to use that size often (Sable/Taurus have 'em too)
Depends on how you drive. I recommend every 5,000 miles under normal conditions. If you drive nothing but highway you can change oil/filter every 6,000 miles. Forget the 3,000 miles that the quick lube shops recommend. They just want your money.
The element mercury can change size and shape. It is often referred to as liquid silver or water silver because of its water -like flow.
As often as the alternator fails... ;)The alternator is not a 'consumable' type of part that requires routine maintenance/replacement - like a serpentine belt, brake pads, etc. Many repair shops and auto parts stores offer inexpensive or free alternator & battery testing.Be sure to test before replacing!NOTE: it is a little known fact that a weak or failing battery is a major contributor to premature alternator death. Any battery that is 4 years old is a prime candidate for replacement.See "Related Questions" below for information on how-to replace Taurus / Sable alternators
Mercury is most often found in thermometers.
