Election for the Scottish Parliament are held every four years. The last Scottish elections where held on May 3rd 2007 and resulted in a historic win for the Scottish National Party.

In addition to this the people of Scotland vote in the British elections which are held every four years. The last British election was held on May 5th 2005.

Since the United Kingdom is a member of the European Union the people of Scotland also vote in the European Elections which are held every five years. The last European elections where held in June 2004. The European Elections in 2009 will be the next election in which the people of Scotland will vote. (Unless the Scottish or British parliaments are prematurely dissolved.)
