Well... At my stables every morning when I get there I clean out the stalls. Ususally there is a lot of poop in there and If I was a horse I wouldn't want to live in a dirty stall. So I would say every morning or every day. I also put shavings in too.

If your horse is turned out during the day or overnight, the stall should be picked once per day to remove manure and urine-soaked bedding. Any day the horse is not out on pasture, the stall should be picked twice: once in the morning, and once at night. The task only takes a few minutes if done regularly.

The horse's stall should be completely stripped of old bedding once per week, and the ground allowed to dry, if possible.

Keeping a clean, dry stall will help prevent diseases like thrush.

Additional information from another contributor:

I say that you can't clean it too often. If I kept my horse in a stall, I'd clean it at least 3 times a day. But I don't keep my horse in a stall because its bad for them.

Did you know that by the time you start to smell the ammonia, it is already damaging your horses lungs? So you NEVER want to be able to smell the ammonia. If you do, you need to thoroughly clean the stall, stripping it of bedding and letting it dry.

Note:

It's important to provide appropriate shelter for your horse. In colder climates, this typically means an enclosed stall.

A horse stall should be mucked at least once daily if the horse is out during part of the day. If however the horse is inside more often than it is out then a good rule of thumb is to remove all of the manure in the morning and then periodically check and remove the urine throughout the day.

How often the stall gets stripped depends on several factors, these include, the type of bedding used, how much your horse uses his stall, and how messy the horse is. Stripping every month or every other month is usually adequate. You should however push the bedding to one corner of the stall and let it air out whenever the horse will be outside to prevent the floor from becoming to moist. If the ground becomes too moist then ammonia fumes will build up and cause issues.

How often should a horses stall be cleaned if the horse is in it frequently?

If the horse is stalled frequently you should muck out the stall at least twice daily if not more. Many people will muck out in the morning then 'spot' clean as they pass the stall and see a new dirty spot. In the evening they will again muck out the stall or add extra bedding.
