i have curly frizzy hair and i hate it. i love it when its straight but i hate the damage it makes. i recommend straightening it once a week which is what i do. many people say straightening it every day or every other day is not bad but it is. so i recommend doing it once a week to prevent damage to the hair.
i also recommend using heat protective serums/creams and using the shampoo and conditioner for your hair type
***** most importantly: make sure hair is completely dry before straightening your hair. this will cause more damage if you straighten when wet. do not put gel/hairspray/esc. when you are about to straighten your hair.
one more thing: i recommend taking a shower and washing your hair before you straighten it so your head will not become greasy and need a wash. so wash it first!
