The Ford 1995 Aerostar Maintenance Schedule said that it must be every 100,000 miles (160,000 km) of if the axle has been submerged in water.

Haynes Aerostar manual (2004) says you should check the differential level every 12,000 miles or one year. They say you should change the oil every 30,000 or 30 months. Unless, again, if the axle has been submerged.

A gasket costs $3 to $8. The oil cost me $4.40 for a quart bottle. I don't see any reason to get some sort of pump to extract the oil; taking off the cover is easy and the bottom of the case can be wiped to remove any metal chips.

Hint: To pry off the cover, don't start with a screwdriver. Use a couple butter knives to break the seal at the bottom and open it enough for a screwdriver to wedge it open.

Hint: The quart bottles were quite adequate for squeezing the oil in but enough oil remained in each bottle that I needed an extra one or I wouldn't've gotten the last pint in. I subsequently drained all the partial bottles in one bottle which I keep for occasional lubrication. Hint: Look at the sticker inside the door frame on an Aerostar. Look for "TYPE AXLE". If this all numeric then this is a conventional axle and most any 80W-90 will work. If it starts with a letter such as in my axle, a B4, then it is a limited slip differential. The owner's manual and the Haynes manual have no mention of this. The Chilton's manual gave only a hint. You have to look up your axle on drivetrains.com to find a table of Aerostar (& other Ford truck) axles.

yes the tranny oil and diff oil are seperate, typically there is a drain plug and a fill plug located on the diff usually a 3/4" combo wrench will do the trick

Remove the battery cables. Remove the battery tiedown. Remove the battery from the Aerostar. Reinstall in reverse order.

What is differential equations as it relates to algebra?

It is an equation in which one of the terms is the instantaneous rate of change in one variable, with respect to another (ordinary differential equation). Higher order differential equations could contain rates of change in the rates of change (for example, acceleration is the rate of change in the rate of change of displacement with respect to time). There are also partial differential equations in which the rates of change are given in terms of two, or more, variables.

What could be the problem when an automatic transmission in a 1986 Aerostar van will not shift into drive?

The first thing you should do is change the transmission filter and fluid. A restricted trans filter can cause these problems. Do this before you worry about more expense things. Mark

On certain models it's separate. Thus, when you are going to change transmission liquid don't forget to change liquid in the differential also.

What is differential in the branch of mathematics?

Differential calculus is a branch of math involved in finding instantaneous rates of change. A differential is one of those concepts, which, just like linear algebraic equations the slope may be separated into 2 parts, so a differential may be one part of an instantaneous rate of change.
