they can become pregnant after living with a male gerbile 4 atleast 3-4 weeks. once they have babys separate them into cages of girls and boys otherwise within 2 weeks - a month you could easily have 20 gerbiles which becomes a lot of money and time plus they live longer

Gerbils become sexually mature at 10 weeks of age, and should be separated by sex accordingly.

However, if you are planning to breed, you should wait until the gerbils are at least 5 months of age. Otherwise, they are still babies themselves, and would probably not raise a healthy litter and be more prone to stress, which could cause the gerbil to cannibalize its young.

Gerbils can become sexually mature at just 10 weeks of age! However, if you are trying to breed gerbils, you should wait until the parents are at least 5 months old--otherwise they are still babies themselves! Early breeding could lead to low survival rates, high stress, and multiple complications of birth.

Gerbils reach sexual maturity at 8 weeks old. Maybe waiting a few more weeks for them to grow a little more would be best, then introducing a possible mate. Female gerbils should stop breeding at 18-20 months, while males can breed until they go to gerbil heaven.

your gerbil has to be 8 weeks or over and it also depends on if the female is in heat yet.

How often do gerbils have babys?

Gerbils can have a litter about every 5 weeks. Gerbils mate right after the birth of a litter, and the mother can prolong the pregnancy to up to 40 days if she is nursing. A gerbil will produce about 4-5 pups on average per litter, but can have up to 12! With about 10 litters per year with no break, that means about 50 gerbil pups a year! They are rather prolific breeders. :]
