Legally, you are breaking the law if you consume alcohol under the age of eighteen (18) in the UK. Additionally - anyone who supplies alcohol to someone under that age commits a criminal offense. However - You can drink alcohol in a pub provided you are (a) at least sixteen (16), (b) accompanied by an adult and (c) the drink is served at the same time as a meal.

In America, the legal drinking age is 21, whether the person is in a licensed premise or not. In licensed premises, the legal age to serve alcohol is 18, but while an 18 year old may serve, they may not drink.

The question is kind of vague, I'm going to assume your talking about going into a bar and only drinking non alchoholic drinks, in which any age would be ok depending on whether minors are allowed in. If there are no minors allowed the age would be 18. The other issue is that businesses have the right to keep people out if they so choose as long as its not based on race, creed.

18 in all most every case. One exception - if you're 16 or over, having a meal, and someone 18+ can buy you a beer, cider or wine (no spirits though)
