A cat is never "too old" to be spayed if it is in good health (ie. able to safely undergo anesthetic). Spaying cats at older ages does mean losing some of the health benefits of spaying them while they are young.

I would check with your vet just to be sure

Depends on your vet - but most recommend spaying a female cat around four months of age - they've been weened from their mother by then (and probably re-homed), but they haven't gone into heat yet.

Most privately owned kittens should be spayed at 5-6 months of age, prior to their first heat. However, some shelters will spay a kitten as young as 2 months once they weigh 1 kg.

They should get spayed at 4 or older months . I have about ten and they got spayed at 4 months

Kittens as young as 8 weeks old can be spayed. Although many people do not get it done that early, female cats as young as 4 months old can potentially get pregnant. So, if there is an un-neutered male cat in your house, or if your cat is an outdoor cat and could potentially meet up with un-neutered male cats, then you should definitely have it done before she's 4 months old.

A vet told me that my kitten would have to be at least 5 months old before getting neutered.

Most vets will not do the procedure until the cat is 5 or 6 months old, but the cat could become pregnant at four months. If she goes into heat, isolate her from other cats until it passes.

A cat can be spayed at any time after she first comes into heat, generally some time about eight months to one year of age.

Can a 12 week old kitten spray?

A twelve week old kitten will in no way be able to spray. At such an age the kitten is comparable to a young child. Kittens usually reach sexual maturity around five to seven months old, and should ideally be spayed before six months old to avoid spraying and other possible problems developing.

How old before spaying a kitten?

I got my kitten when she was 6-6 1/2 weeks old, so the breeder got her spayed, she was probably about 5 weeks. Make sure to get them spayed before 5 months (mine just turned 5 months on Halloween) because they are starting to grow more into a cat and they have to get spayed when a kitten.a kitten is until a year but they are growing so much into a cat so DO NOT wait until a year...I hope that that helped :P

Can a 12 week old kitten have a litter?

A twelve week old kitten will in no way be able to have kittens of its own. At such an age the kitten is comparable to a young child. Female kittens usually reach sexual maturity around five to seven months old, although they should still never be bred at this age as they are still young and should, ideally, be spayed.

Can a 6 month old kitten be in heat?

Yes. It is possible for female cats as young as 4 months old to start her first heat cycle. It is recommended that cats should be spayed before six months to prevent any unwanted behaviour or chance of a kitten becoming pregnant.
