in fair/usable condition, between 175 and 250
I can tell you that with the Western Field name, it's not a Browning product. This was a trade name used by Montgomery Ward. It may be marked with a Browning patent, but was probably made by Stevens/Savage.
1930's.
To locate a manual for your shotgun, you must provide the model number for your shotgun first. All shotguns made for Montgomery Wards(Western Field) were made by other firearms manufactures for Montgomery Wards to include Savage,Stevens,Mossberg,Noble and more.
I would have to assume that you have a semi-auto shotgun. If your shotgun has a slight hump to the back of the reciever then it was a shotgun made with a browning patent and would have to be listed on the gun along with the royaltys paid to his patent.
Gun Digest.
This is actually a western Field gun that was made by Stevens Arms co. It is on a Browning patent, but not a Browning gun. They usually sell for $100-250 depending on condition
This Shotgun was made by Stevens their model. 520. Made from 1930's to 1950'S Although the shotgun was Browning patent marked, it was not made by Browning.
About $150-$250 depending on condition
Yes. We have a good supply of parts for that model. gunshop@nctv.com
The Western Field model 550C was manufactured by Mossberg for Montgomery Wards.
I just inherited a Western Field 12 guage that belonged to my uncle. The number on the bottom of the gun 25613b. According to my father, my uncle used it to duck hunt as a kid back in the '20s, and they bought it from Sears. Hope that this helps. Western Field was a Montgomery Ward brand name. That number doesn't indicate the model number so I can't cross reference it to the manufacturer but I see no Browning guns in the list. If you want to establish the value of a store-brand gun, go to Walmart and find the least expensive gun most like yours. Figure your used gun is worth 1/2 to 3/4 as much, depending on its condition. If it will help anyone, I just recived a "Western Field Browning" , that exact wording on the gun w/ Montgomery Ward and Company, Model 30, Browning Patent 20 gauge.
