How old is a Riverside Arms shotgun with only the numbers 3702 it's a 12 GA double barrel with external hammers?

The Riverside model number will be identical to the Stevens number.

What you have is a model 215 Riverside Double Barreled shotgun. There are only two models, the other one (315) has internal hammers. I recently obtained a model 215 and needed a new barell. Riverside was a brand name used by the J. Stevens division of Savage Arms around 1940-1960. Riverside Arms Co was in business in the late 19th and early 20th century. This company was acquired by the Stevens divisio of Savage Arms sometime prior to WW2. I have a Riverside hammerless flatback 12 ga with a patent date of 1915, still a shootable gun. I have a friend who owns a Riverside with hammers, it also is a shootable gun. Answer I have a 16 ga. double with external hammers pat. feb. 10 1914 still shoots, however it is chambered for 2@9/16`` instead of 2@3/4``. Answer "Riverside" was a brand model shotgun produced by the J. Stevens Co. (which was bought out by Savage in 1920) - These were utility grade double barrel shotguns manufactured between 1877 and 1988.

Try your local gunsmith. The Riverside is a Stevens shotgun. If you can find out which model it is, you can probably find the wood at Numrich Gunparts

The riverside double barreled shotgun only came in two models, the 215 (exposed hammers) and 315 (internal hammers). From what I have heard, the 215 should take parts for Stevens or Savage model 215s. However, you can find Riverside parts at http://www.e-gunparts.com/products.asp?chrMasterModel=2680zDOUBLE%20BARREL&MC= A serial number not preceded by a letter indicated the weapon was manufactured prior to 1949. I'd bet (but only a small amount) there is a 3 or 4 digit number on the right side of the receiver which will be the Stevens model number.

I'm not sure of the value of your shotgun. I have a Montgomery Wards Hercules, double barrel shotgun, with external hammers. With all the research I have done it is a Stevens 217. I have been looking for a set of barrels for this gun. Can you describe your gun to me. Petter

Riverside was manufactured by Stevens, so if you can identify the equivalent Stevens model, you should be able to find hammers at http://www.e-gunparts.com/ Or if you still have one hammer (or a broken one) you can take it to a local gunshow and dig through bins of miscellaneous parts looking for a match.

I have a 1913 model 16 ga riverside arms shotgun . all it says , is the date made and company so on mine there is no ga. indication .

Stevens/Savage used the Riverside name from about 1920 to 1945.

The hammers need to be in the cocked position for the barrel set to close. You will need to insert a tool and lift the cocking piece from the front of the action below the breechface or remove the stock and manually cock the hammers in order to get the barrel set back on. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Can't give you an exact date, but Stevens used the Riverside name from about 1920-1945 according to my notes.

I have a circa 1874 W.W. Greener double barrel shotgun. It was made in Birmingham England. It has double hammers with nice engraving. Greener shotguns are still produced today but in limited numbers.

BRANDY - Your shotgun was probably manufactured between 1886 and 1916. The SxS has been around a long time. With the info given your gun may have been built in 1750 or it may be a new import from 2008. They have never stopped makeing this type of gun.

try looking at savage or Stevens shotgun diagrams. I found a firing pin for a 16 gauge riverside it was an old model 94 Stevens part
