The H&R AMERICAN DOUBLE ACTION revolver was in production from circa 1884 'til 1942. The first models (black powder) are usually seen with 3 or 4 digit serial/batch numbers - that is it appears that they were number from 1 to 9999, then numbers were started over again. Your gun may have been made anytime during the period 1884 to 1904 or very early in 1905, depending upon which variation it is. Variation can only be determined by physical characteristics.
