Feel free to send photos of these markings to the email address listed in my bio page. Offhand, it would appear you have a 1938 manufactured receiver, which was refurbished or refitted at one of several arsenals in 1942, probably to replace damaged prewar furniture with cheaper and simpler wartime production furniture. The 1938 is the year of manufacture of your K98K rifle. The 42 marking is the Mark used by Mauser-Werke AG,Obendorf a./Necker early code. There was also a early code used which was S/42.Both apply to the Mauser that you have. You will also find that the serial number range will be from 126-1631z.In 1938 Mauser AG Obendorf um necker produced 251,606 rifles in 1938.Germany would assign numbers and letters to a certain amount of rifles by blocks of these combinations. The left side of your reciever should show the marks FP-SN,and the right side should show the marks 63 63 63.
