Olav the fifth/V was the last king with this name, but had the name Alexander Edward Christian Fredrik when he was prince of Denmark not Norway. he become Prince of Norway when his father king Carl of Denmark, was chosen king of Norway after the union with Sweden. he was the first heir of the throne to be raised in Norway since Olav IV. he was chosen as chief of defence in 1944 and became king in 1957 and died in 1991. King Olav had a popular, down to earth manner that made the people like him and gave him the nickname the the people's king. in 2005 he was chosen as the Norwegian of the century.
