Dill was in his Aunt Rachel's backyard next door when Jem and Scout spotted him behind the fence. Out of curiosity, Jem walked right up and started asking him questions. Ever since they were friends and inseparable every summer that Dill would come to visit.
The mention of Dill's kissing Scout is found twice in the novel.
___CHAPTER 12 - Dill has not yet come for the summer and Scout thinks to herself:
_[Scout] "The fact that I had a permanent fiancé was little compensation for his absence: I had never thought about it, but summer was Dill by the fishpool smoking string, Dill's eyes alive with complicated plans to make Boo Radley emerge; SUMMER WAS THE SWIFTNESS WITH WHICH DILL WOULD REACH UP AND KISS ME WHEN JEM WAS NOT LOOKING [emphasis added], the longings we sometimes felt each other feel…."
___CHAPTER 6 - After Jem "losses" his pants when trying to escape during the failed plan to get a look at Arthur "Boo" Radley, Dill makes up a story about having won them playing strip Poker. Dill is worried that Miss Rachael will be furious. As the children talk with each other, they hear Atticus explaining to Miss Rachael that all children go through phases and that this was not serious. Dill is comforted by what he hears, but Jem and Scout are not. They face the problem of Jem having to show up with his pants in the morning. At that point, Dill speaks:
_[Dill] " 'd give you some of mine."
_[Scout as narrator] "…as we came to Miss Rachel's steps. Jem said he couldn't get in them, but thanks anyway. We said good-bye, and Dill went inside the house. HE EVIDENTLY REMEMBERED HE WAS ENGAGED TO ME, FOR HE RAN BACK OUT AND KISSED ME IN FRONT OF JEM [emphasis added]."
_[Dill] "Yawl write, hear?"

Dill is seven years old when he first meets Scout and Jem in "To Kill a Mockingbird".
Both Dill and Scout do have an attraction for one another. Scout always looks forward in seeing Dill each summer, and Dill looks forward in "marrying" Scout in the future........
In "To Kill a Mockingbird," Scout was taller than Dill. Dill was described as small for his age, while Scout's height was closer to that of Jem, her older brother.
Dill asked Scout to marry her early on in the summer and forgot about it. Scout reacts to this by beating Dill up
Francis told Scout that Dill's mother had remarried and that Dill was not coming to Maycomb that summer because he preferred to stay with his new family in Meridian.

Dill is visiting his aunt in Meridian, and Jem is recovering at home after breaking his arm.
In Chapter 1 of "To Kill a Mockingbird," Dill asks Scout to marry him. He does this as part of their childhood play and fascination with romantic interests and relationships.
Dill loves Scout. Even though is is abnormal for their young ages, Dill in the novel claims a love for Scout and that one day he will marry her. Scout requites the feelings and agreement of marriage.
Scout finds Dill hiding under her bed when she is sent to bed in "To Kill a Mockingbird." Dill had run away from his home in Mississippi and arrived in Maycomb looking for adventure.
Jem and Dill first took Scout into the Radley yard the night before Dill was supposed to leave Maycomb for the schoolyear. However, Lee does state that Scout "rolled into the Radley front yard" earlier in the book when she Jem and Dill were playing with an old tire.
Dill says that his father beats him, leading Scout to accuse him of lying because she knows that Dill's father is dead and he lives with his aunt.
