If Queen Elizabeth I was still alive, having been born in September 1533, she would be 475. She died in 1603.

Queen Elizabeth II is still alive, and having been born in April 1926, she is currently 82.

Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, the current Queen's mother, was born in August 1900. She would be 108 if still alive. She died in 2002.

Mary Queen of Scots died many years ago and human longevity cannot sustain a person for a such a length of time as would be necessary for her to still be alive today. However, it is 470 years since the birth of Mary Queen of Scots on the 8th of December.

Was Mary Queen of Scots innocent?

Of what? There are many things that could be being asked by simply saying ''Was Mary, Queen of Scots innocent?''. If you are referring to her second husband's murder then, yes, she was innocent. Well ... it is highly debated and the majority of people believe she was the culprit, however, I frankly think otherwise. Was she innocent of being a witch? Yes, because there are no such thing as witches. Was she innocent of having an affair with James Hepburn, Lord Bothwell while she was married to Henry, Lord Darnley? Well ... no, but do not think unkindly of her as many married people cheat. If none of these are what you meant, then you at least got an education on Mary, Queen of Scots. Oh, and I have just noticed that I must sound rather like a fan of Mary, Queen of Scots in the small piece above. Now you ask "Are you a fan of Mary, Queen of Scots?". Yes I am. I am hugely obsessed with her and have many information pages that I wrote about her. I am not into Mary I of England although some people are intent on saying they are the same person. But guess what, they are NOT!

What happened in the Tower of London with Mary queen of Scots?

Not what you think, while executions were held at the Tower of London, Mary Queen of Scots was executed in the now defunct Fotheringay ( sometimes spelled Fotheringhay) Castle in Scotland. There were, of course political executions in the Tower of London, but this was not one of them. I believe Anne Boleyn ( mother of Elizabeth I) was executed by Axe in the Tower ( actually a prison complex) . There was a rather morbid Cockney folk song about this. now we do not have a similar ballad about Jayne Mansfield, but that was an accident.

Is mary queen of scots elizabeth's sister?

No. Mary Queen of Scots was a cousin of Queen Elizabeth I of England. Elizabeth I had a half sister Mary, who was Queen Mary I of England - a different person from Mary Queen of Scots.

Why was Mary Queen of Scots executed?

Mary Queen Of Scots was executed by her second cousin Elizabeth. At first Elizabeth didn't want to sign the death warrant, then finally when the warrant was showed to her for the third she signed it.She kept Mary in prison for 19 years until she executed her.The reasons for killing her were ....1. Apparently she had been found plotting against Elizabeth with several people.2. If Elizabeth died before Mary and had no children, Mary was the heir to the throne.3. Mary could try and turn England back into a catholic country again.No-one knows the reason why Elizabeth didn't kill Mary before. Maybe she didn't want to kill her cousin.Mary Queen of Scots got executed because she was apparently plotting to kill Elizabeth l

Did Mary Queen of Scots really live?

At the time of Mary's reign, Borthwick Castle belonged to William Borthwick, 6th Lord Borthwick. Although she never actually lived there, Mary Queen of Scots visited the castle on many occasions. She spent her honeymoon with her 3rd husband - Bothwell - at the castle and also fled to here when the Scottish nobles were after her shortly before her abdication (she escaped dressed as a pageboy). It is now said that her ghost haunts the castle. Hope this helps

Was Mary Queen of Scots tried for treason?

No, it was not a religious trial except for the fact that Mary was Catholic and Elizabeth what we now call Episcopalian, or Anglican. Religion played a role in the trial but this was not defiance of established doctrine- as with, say Joan of Arc. Politics and religio-politics were the deciding factors. She was executed because of the threat to the throne she posed.

What is queen Mary?

If you really mean "what' is Queen Mary: she is a ship. To be exact: 3 ships with that name. One battlecruiser, sunk at the battle of Jutland in 1916, and two famous Cunard Line passenger ships, the oldest now retired and serving as a hotel in Long Beach, California; the other still sailing the oceans. If you mean 'who' is queen Mary: the most famous queens called Mary were Mary queen of Scots, executed at the orders of Queen Elisabeth I of England in 1587, and queen Mary I, nicknamed 'Bloody Mary', daughter of Henry VIII, who reigned from 1553 to 1558 and who forcibly tried to return England to the Catholic faith.

Was Elizabeth pleased when Mary I died?

Elizabeth was sooo sad because she was her cousin and she refused to kill her three times Mary I was Elizabeth's half-sister, not her cousin (that was Mary, Queen of Scots). When Elizabeth received the news that Mary had died and she (Elizabeth) was now queen, her comment was "This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes" so inasmuch as she was now queen, she was happy. She also said "The laws of nature move me to sorrow for my sister". They had had a rocky relationship and were not especially close. Thus, Elizabeth could be said to have been both happy and sad.

Did Mary Queen of Scots rule England before Elisabeth 1?

No, Mary was Catholic and Elizabeth, being Protestant, resented Mary for it. During Mary's reign she converted all of the Spanish back to Catholicism just when the majority of the Spaniards were joining the Protestant movement. Mary also sent her half-sister to the country side during her rule because the two could not stand one another.
