Answer: As someone who doesn't come from Australia, I'll answer from an outsider's point of view. From what I have heard from Australians who have experienced discrimination because of their heritage, color, race, or background, the country as a whole is not racist, but they do, in fact, have a huge problem with racism that many choose to ignore; either because they are racist and feel comfortable with it, or they choose to use excuses such as "We aren't as racist as [insert country here]." However, excuses like that are often used by countries because it is hard to face that ones country is not as accepting or tolerant as the country portrays themselves to be.
