After the Romans conquered the Greeks, they adopted Greek mythology. However, the Romans changed the names of the Greek gods and also added and subtracted a few gods. The Greek god Zeus became Jupiter, Hades became Pluto, Hera became Juno, etc. Also, Janus, the god of doorways, did not exist in Greek mythology-- only in Roman mythology.
