no, they have diffrent conformation that's why they are called miniature HORSES
I read your question and i got kind of confused. Do you mean horses? Well, if you do, then horses and ponies may look the same, but there is a small difference that no one barely pays attention too. And that is size. Horses are measured in hands, 4 inches per hand. A pony is 14.2 hands and under. A horse is 14.3 hands and taller.
Technically, horses standing under 14.2 hh at the whithers when full-grown are considered ponies. However, there are some exceptions. Some arabians, being a small breed, will stand under 14.2 hh yet still be considered a horse.
A good way to tell a pony besides that he is short is their build. they tend to have short legs and thick necks. Full manes and feathers (hair around the hoof) are also characteristics of some ponies. Draft horses also have this build, although they are much taller than a pony.
well a pony is smaller than a horse but it has its name so a pony IS NOT A SMALL HORSE
under 14.2 hands or 58 inches
Answer-Pony Its called a pony or small horse. Mostly if its an Arabian it can be called a horse or small horse or large pony. It is definitley not called a small horse. A horse is a different breed to a pony. It should be called a pony. 14.2 is large pony by hunter and dressage (FEI) standards. 14.2 is pony, and some will argue that 14.3 is even pony (FEI dressage defines pony as 14.3 and under). A horse is not a different breed to pony. Horses and ponies can be the same breed and be totally different sizes. It's all genetics. However there are breeds of ponies and breeds of horses which are entirely different from each other and one another; example: New Forest Pony/Thoroughbred Horse.
Yes, well it is a pony not a miniature pony just a pony Theres a difference your welcome , sincerly Mikaylee boutin
No ,A pony is a small breed of horse,a donkey is a dfferant species.
A pony?
A horse below the height of 14.2hh is called a pony.
a small horse + a big horse or two small horses!
A horse that is 38" to 14.2 hands is not considered a horse it is called a PONY. If the Equine is nnder 38" it is considered to be a miniature horse.
Height: The height for this breed is 11 hands. This approximates to 44 inches to the withers of the horse. Average height for horse breeds is 15.0 hands or 60 inches. Therefore, the Shetland Pony is shorter than most horse breeds.
Pony, meaning a small horse or a small glass, is noun. (She rode a pony) Pony, meaning to pay or contribute, is a verb. (He must pony up his share. )
hi, i am a highly respected horse/pony rider. ponies are ponies until the reach the height of 14.3hh. this means that your/ the 14.2hh is a pony, no matter what breed. :)
Technically it is still considered a pony.
The minimum height for a true horse is 14.3 hands (59 inches) at the withers, anything under that is usually considered a pony.
