I had a laparoscopy and flew from Sydney to Bangkok 4 days later. My doctor was horrified! And apparently, had the airline known, they would not have let me fly for another 2 weeks....so I just didn't tell them. There is a risk of DVT, a clot and embolism....so I made sure I got up and walked around the plane every hour, took an aspirin every 4 hours and I didn't drink any alcohol for a week after surgery. I was fine...although, the seat belt went across one of the incision sites which was a little uncomfortable.
