There is not a distributor on a Mitsubishi Mirage. It uses two coils that are located on top of the valve cover. one coil provides spark for two cylinders.

hey i have a mitsubishi mirage 99 de 1.8 sedan and i changed the fuel pump few times its located in the fuel tank and you have to bring down the whole fuel tank to change it. its an nice car very reliable but today i found out that my spark plugs have oil on them i guess its the valve cover seals anyway i hope i helped and i am very sure of this answer
On the 2.4 and 3.6 liter engines it is behind the timing cover down by the crankshaft sprocket. Caution: the timing belt cover bolts of varying lengths. Be sure to mark the bolts and the cover to return them to the proper holes. You may wish to change timing belts while you are in there.

Take of the bracket with the pulley. Should be two bolts on the right and a nut on the left. Loosen the three bolts for the thermostat cover. Remove the cover take out the thermostat. Reapply sealant to the cover add new thermostat and reinstall bolts. Your done. That easy. Should take about an hour to complete.
