Your brake system may have air in the lines. When did you last check fluid level .
I would try bleeding the brake lines first to make sure there is no air in the lines. Could be the brake booster (if applicable) or even the master cylinder. If your car has a brake booster maybe check the vacuum line on it first.
Brake lines run from the master brake cylinder to each wheel, generally under the frame of the car.
sounds like you have a leak in your Brake Boost Controler, you should also check to see if there is any leaks in the vacuum lines that connect the engine to the brake booster.
For the car with such age it can be anything. I would start from main brake lines. If the lines are fine, check calipers and rear brake cylinders for leaks. If you find any leak it's easier to replace a part, then trying to fix it.
If your asking about the brake lines in general, they run from the brake master cylinder to each wheel.
Check
Brake fluid could be low. Check for leaky brake lines under the car also. Quite often older cars have rusty brake lines that leak fluid sometimes just a little bit but these should be repaired as they can blow apart when you hit the brakes hard and cause an accident. Check your emergency brake and make sure it as pulled all the way off also.
You have a leak(s). Check main brake lines and brake cylinders at each wheel.
If you have to replace the lines, then just follow the path. The lines are in the middle of the car going to the back, and if not in the middle, then check the rails on the sides, down from the master.
Yes, you can get your brake line repaired at Midas, Car X, Firestone, Goodyear which is really good with fixing brake lines and you can also take your car into the dealership.
First thing to check is your brake fluid reservoir ... if it is empty, the brakes will not work. Next check for broken hydraulic lines ... any leakage will also cause brake failure. Check also the brake pads themselves ... if they are worn out, they need to be replaced. All this is part of normal routine car maintenance that everyone should do at least weekly. Treat your car right all the time and it will treat you right, too.
