The camshaft position sensor on a 1991 Acura Legend is located at the back of the camshaft, near the rear bearing cap. It monitors the rotation of the camshaft and relays this information to the vehicle's computer.

The 1991 Ford Explorer 4.0 engine does not use a cam sensor, but rather a crank sensor at the lower front of the engine to set crank or time position, two bolts and one connector.....
Cam sensor is inside the distributor under pick-up coil. Some say whole distributor has to come out to replace, some have snuck it out by removing pick-up coil.

The cam sensor is located below the water pump and left of center. Most likely if there is a problem with theis, then the magnet has come off of the timing gear (which triggers the sensor). Remove the senor, then use a mirror and turn the motor until you can see if it's still there. Good luck!
